Our beans are growing!
1/11/14- Yesterday we looked at the cross section of flowers and learnt about how flowers reproduce. We identified all of the different parts of a flower and compared many different flowers. A big THANK YOU to Wendy (Bayley's Mum) for donating flowers to our class for this lesson!
28/10/14 Our bean experiment has started. Yesterday we put our beans into a plastic cup with some water and paper towel. We are going to watch their progress over the term to see if they germinate!

This term in science our unit is called 'friends or foes'. This unit explores the growth of plants and looks into how insects play a vital roll in pollination. We will be discovering how they depend on each other in different environments. S2H will be experimenting with seeds and flowers over the next few weeks. We took at look at some kidney beans this week and investigated the effect water has on beans.

This term we are learning about whats 'beneath our feet'!! We are studying soils, rocks and land formations. We are looking at how different things such as the weather, water, wind and environment affect their formation. Above is some of our soil solutions. We shook up the water and soil we collected then let it settle over 3 weeks. We watched as the water changed and the soil produce many different items such as leaves, sticks, bugs, rocks, sand and weeds. It was great to watch each day as the layers formed and the water changed colour.

We learn our best when we work together in groups. Lots of interesting ideas can be created and shared when we work collaboratively. Each week in science we split up into groups to work on our experiments and report our findings.
